Outreach
Science communication is a top priority
A common problem in science is that the public does not understand what we, as scientists, are doing. This lack of understanding can jeopardize acceptance and lead to policies that work in opposition or undermine our research. One way to combat this lack of understanding is public outreach. This allows us to educate the public about both science in general and the research that we do. At Baylor University, I am a part of a graduate student organization called Present Your PhD. This organization has allowed me to practice my communication and presentation skills to audiences of varying ages. I have given presentations to students from 5th grade all the way up to university and the greater Waco community. If you would like to learn more about Present Your Phd, click the link below.
